This year, the Alliance of American Football (AAF) played its inaugural season featuring 8 teams: The Arizona Hotshots, Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Orlando Apollos, Salt Lake Stallions, San Antonio Commanders, and San Diego Fleet. It caught the interest of many fans and looked to be a successful league. However, the league ceased operations due to financial reasons before the league's playoffs even began, which once again leaves the NFL as the country's only professional American football league until 2020 when the XFL will start its first season.
But on July 17th, the AAF announced a new owner for the league, Jon Mahdin, and its plans to make a return in 2021; where it will compete with the XFL if it sticks around by then. "This is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one." Mahdin said as part of the announcement. "We're willing to give this spring football thing one more shot. We will look at our mistakes from last time, and use those to help us build a better and more successful league." So far, no news on the teams have been announced, but the AAF stated it plans to aim for markets aren't too big or too small, but just enough for a small football team to thrive in and receive attention and support from local fans.
DISCLAIMER: This article is not real and was intended to be a joke. The AAF is not returning in 2021 and probably never will. I had to put this here because people thought Roblox was shutting down in 2020 because of an article on this site. Please do not take any article on this site seriously.
