BUENA PARK MAN SOUGHT FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER DURING TWO GAS STATION ROBBERIES OVER WEEKEND.

BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Police are looking for a Buena Park man named Gerald Kruska they believe is behind the attempted murder of a gas station attendant that occurred during two armed robberies that occurred back-to-back in Orange County over the past weekend.

Police said a man they believe to be Kruska shot a Chevron gas station clerk twice in the head during a robbery in the middle of the day Sunday. Just up the road two days earlier, police said security tape captured the same man believed to be Kruska robbing another Chevron gas station clerk with a gun around 10 p.m.

Paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority transported the victim to U.C. Irvine Medical Center in Orange where he is currently listed in critical condition.

A spokesperson for the Buena Park Police Department stated that multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in the manhunt for Kruska. They cautioned for the public to not try to apprehend him if spotted, that he is considered armed and dangerous.

The Orange County District Attorney's Office commented that if the victim succumbs to his injuries the attempted murder charge will be amended to first degree murder with enhancements due to the act taking place during the commission of a robbery. If convicted the suspect is eligible for the death penalty during sentencing.

Customers can’t believe that the robber would be so brazen.

“That’s insane,” said Penny Smith. “I can’t believe something like that would happen here. Why would you do it in front of everybody? You’re gonna get caught.”

Police said the thief took off in a gold late model Toyota Corolla.

Customers hope police catch him.

“I definitely will look around and make sure that everything’s OK before I even come out to pump gas,” said Rebecca Ramirez.
